I went to Cape Town from Honolulu to represent Zikomo Safari at the World Travel Market, wtmafrica.com . This trade show was held in Cape Town's International Convention Center. Demian Wallace, Managing Director of Zikomo Safari, flew down from Zambia to attend.
I left on Wednesday April 8, 2015 and arrived on Friday April 10, 2015. I flew ten hours to NY (JFK airport). Then, seventeen (17) hours later I arrived in Cape Town. I had a two hour layover in Johannesburg followed by a two hour flight into Cape Town.
On Saturday, I ventured out from the Hotel on St. Georges, a nice hotel conveniently located downtown, where I stayed during my visit. I walked around downtown and to the Victoria and Andrew Waterfront. This area is a working harbor that has been re-vitalized with upscale shops, an aquarium and nice restaurants.
The following day, I took a van tour with three other people. We toured the entire peninsula. We went down the Hout Bay (east) side of the peninsula to Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point Lighthouse. We returned on the False Bay (west) side of the peninsula, and we visited the spectacular Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.
I spent Monday and Tuesday preparing for the conference with Demian. On Wednesday thru Friday we met people in the travel industry from all over the world. We spoke to them about Zikomo Safari.
On Saturday, Demian and I took the double-decker CitySightSeeing Cape Town tour bus around the town. We took the cable gondola to the top of Table Mountain. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at a Belgian restaurant, Den Anker, on the V & A Waterfront.
Sunday, I headed home. A two hour flight to Johannesburg was followed by a two hour layover. Then, the flight to NY (JFK) took nearly fifteen (15) hours. After a three hour layover, an eleven (11) hour flight brought me back to Honolulu.
Here are some of the photos I took.
